Water mixing test kit
Growers now have the ability to test the water they use to mix with pesticides for spraying, through the WQ Pixel Project.
You may not be aware, but the quality of the water you use to mix with chemicals is very important and can greatly affect the efficiency of your spray application.
Parameters such as water hardness, pH, salinity and sediment are important to know, as poor quality water can lead to chemicals becoming deactivated, breaking down or dropping out of solution, reducing effectiveness and increasing the amount of chemical required for a successful application.
This is especially important if you are using bore water to mix with your chemicals.
Inefficient chemical applications are not only costly to you but the chemicals can later become active in the wider environment and in groundwater supplies, affecting local ecosystems.
BBIFMAC has a free instant water testing kit available on request to growers to test the suitability of their mixing water. If you would like to utilise this service please contact Adam or Jude at BBIFMAC on 4783 4344.
